Scan Day at the Pottsville Library, May 20th

Get ready for reunions this summer by scanning family photos so you can share them with everyone! Have old family documents that you want to preserve? Our scanner can handle up to 11″ x 17″. Want to watch old family movies but your VCR is long gone? We can convert home movies from VHS to MP4 files to watch on your computer. Even better, there is no cost for this digitization service: the equipment was provided by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, called ScanPA.

We are also looking for photos showing the history of Pottsville and all of Schuylkill County. We’d like to add these photos to the Schuylkill County Photographs collection in PA Photos and Documents, a statewide project to document people, places and events.

All you need to do is bring your photos or VHS tapes, as well as a flash drive or external drive so you can take the digital files home with you.

Call 570-622-8880 x11 or email potref@pottsvillelibrary.org to find out more or make an appointment.
